Star-Bee GEM: radiator material options and indicative price ranges

Indicative price ranges for the radiator materials behind each GEM installation size (useful electrical output). The ranges are for radiator materials only and come from our internal cost data. Installation, pumps, controls and coolant channels are not included. The radiator mounts on the back of the mirror structure.

Heat to reject and radiator area (Earth)

A GEM installation releases about 1.5 kW of heat for every 1 kW of useful electrical output. The Star-Bee radiator sits directly under the mirror and uses the mirror plate as its base.

Useful electrical outputHeat to rejectRadiator area with finned coreRadiator area, mirror back-plate only
10 kW15 – 15.3 kW0.8 – 20 m²32 – 68 m²
100 kW150 – 153 kW8 – 196 m²316 – 680 m²
150 kW225 – 229 kW12 – 295 m²474 – 1,020 m²
250 kW375 – 381 kW21 – 491 m²791 – 1,700 m²
1 MW1,500 – 1,525 kW83 – 1,964 m²3,163 – 6,801 m²

With a finned core, the area under the mirror is enough on its own; no extra side panels are needed. The low end of each range is a lightweight aluminium honeycomb core with active airflow; the high end is a heavy metal lattice or plain plate with natural airflow.
